How to stake your ADA

How much can I earn staking ADA?

Your earnings are subjects to a few network-wide parameters such as the number of tokens participating in staking, the number of tokens staked in our pool (the higher - the better), and the 'k' parameter (the k-parameter determines the stake pool saturation point, 'k', which governs the rewards stake pools receive according to how much stake is delegated to them). With the launch of Staking in July 2020, there are ~13.8 billion ADA reserved as stake incentives for participants. Each epoch (5 days) the protocol distributes 0.3% of this total reserve pool between all active stakers. Therefore rewards are being distributed every 5 days and compound automatically.

The amount of ADA earned by a pool member is equal to the proportion of the ADA the pool member stake to the total ADA (e.g. member stakes 100ADA; total pool stake is 1000ADA; member receives 10% of the rewards, minus the maintenance fee).

Is there any risk or lock-up for staking ADA?

When delegating your funds to our stake pool (or any stake pool), you keep full control of the coins and they are never locked. When spending your staked coins, they are automatically withdrawn from the Stake Pool.

There is no risk of losing your funds while delegating (no slashing).

So how do I do it?

Obtain some ADA from your favourite crypto exchange , if you haven't already. Next, download one of the two official wallets:

Deadalus is the main heavyweight secure wallet for the ada cryptocurrency. Deadalus is a IOHK product.
Yoroi is a light wallet for Cardano. It’s simple, fast and secure. Yoroi is an Emurgo product, engineered by IOHK. Yoroi looks to be a day to day wallet for a Cardano user.
